    Nolonger Offering Services

Posted By Meridith Cantrell on November 4, 2009

Thanks to some trying to get free services. I have decided to nolonger offer my services through my website. I cannot afford to have people pay me, get their service, then turn around and try to do a chargeback to get their money back. This economy is too tight for that to happen.

Sorry for any inconvience this might cause anyone.

    True Do-Follow Social Bookmarking Websites

Posted By Meridith Cantrell on July 13, 2009

Finding good do-follow websites isn’t as easy as doing a search for do follow social bookmarking. You will get a lot of results, but when you look closer at the websites you will find they are not true dofollow sites. Many will be do-follow on the main page of the site, but the pages that your links would show on are never indexed, are nofollow, or even possibly requiring you to be logged in just to view them.

In my search for finding good do-follow social bookmarking sites, I decided to share the list with the visitors of Jasis Designs. The list is only around 20 links atm. For each true dofollow link that I found, I checked out at least 15 sites. Not a good ratio when you think about it. I found many lists of so-called do-follow sites and most of the lists contained mostly dead links and sites that were not true do follow sites. Often the sites claiming do-follow would have the tag in the heading of their page, but the actual links would have the nofollow attribute added to them. Also, many that are do-follow do not let you use anchor text for your link. In link building, using anchor text is very important to help build up your SERPs for certain keywords.

I am not going to post the list directly on here. Instead, I ask that in return for the list you use the two links below to bookmark each of the pages with the text I have listed below. Once you have bookmarked those pages on each of the links, use the contact form to send me the urls to you public pages with my links listed and I will then send you the list of true do-follow social bookmarking sites. The list will contain 22, two of which are listed below.

    Upcoming Changes to Jasis Designs

Posted By Meridith Cantrell on July 1, 2009

    Hi everyone!

JasisDesigns.com is going to be going through some major changes over the next few days. I love wordpress and the ease of doing SEO and just for site creation in general, but wordpress has been giving me some fits lately and of course the fits are affecting things that I can’t just ignore. :( A big part of the backend SEO for this site has been wiped because of these glitches and I have yet to figure out what is causing it, whether it’s something in wordpress itself, or incompatabilities with pluggins.

So instead of spending days trying to find the issue and completely redoing the site (complete fresh new install of wordpress etc) have elected to change over to Joomla. For those who are already subscribed to my feeds, I am not sure if this will have any affect on that yet or not, but I wanted to make sure everyone was aware so if you do stop receiving feeds, you will know why and can come back and resubscribe.

I am not expecting the change over to take more then a couple of days and would love to have it finished before the 4th. I am working on a temp install of Joomla on getting the layout and everything, so the actual change over that you will see here won’t last more then a day while I move everything from the temp to here.

Definately check back at the first of the week next week! I am in the plans of adding some freebies and some very low cost items that will greatly help you in doing your own SEO.

Thanks and sorry for any inconveniences,
    Meridith

4 Ways To Save Money On SEO

Posted By Meridith Cantrell on June 10, 2009

Website optimization is the backbone to a successful online business. But if you are just starting your business, the cost of hiring an SEO Expert can be a bit high for anyone’s budget. Yes, you could hire one of those sites that guarantee results in a short time for almost nothing, but are they using acceptable techniques to get those results? Or are you risking your site being banned from Google? For most businesses there will be high competition, so you can’t honestly expect to get first page results in just a short time. It takes work and a lot of patience.

So does that mean that you are stuck with paying a large amount for SEO services? Definitely not! There are things that you can do yourself that can reduce the amount of services you will need from an SEO Expert. Fewer services mean lower overall costs.

Organize: You might not realize it, but an unorganized website can lengthen the time it takes for an SEO expert to optimize your website. This goes for both what the visitors see when they visit your website, and what you see when you are viewing the files of your website through your host provider. When a website is unorganized, it makes it harder for visitors and search engine spiders to find all your pages. It also makes optimizing the pages take longer because of having to search through the chaos of your files.

Small sites, generally 20 pages or less, should have just one menu, which includes all links. If you are using java script or flash for your menu, make sure that at the bottom of all your pages is text links for every page. This will help your visitors and search engines in finding all your pages. The files of your site should have a simple organization, all html pages in the root directory with images in a folder that is labeled descriptively (i.e. images, pictures, etc.).

Larger sites generally will have different areas for visitors, for example cars and trucks. Create a page (a sitemap) visitors can go to that has text links for all pages of your site organized by area. Your menu that visitor’s use can be more area specific, but make sure that all areas are accessible to your visitors no matter which area they are currently browsing. So if your website is about vehicles, the main menu could list cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc, then when they are in each area, there is a second menu specifically for that area. The main menu will always be there, so visitors can easily switch between the areas when they choose. When organizing the files, you can treat each area of the site like a mini site, with each having its own image folder for pictures that are specific for that area. Your main pages of your website, like the home page, would still be placed in the root folder and with the main image folder for the design and logos for your site.

Images: Something that most people overlook, including even some “SEO Experts” is the use of images. Images are great to have on websites, and they can really help with the SEO of your website. Though search engines can’t “see” the images, they can read the names of the images and the alt tags associated with them. Your images should be named descriptively. So if you have a picture of a flower on your website, don’t have it named picture1.jpg or even flower.jpg. Name it something like beautiful_red_rose.jpg. That way the search engine can “see” what the picture is about.

You also want to add an alt tag to the image so when someone hovers his or her mouse over the image, a description will show up. This is easily don’t by adding alt=”description” to the file path of the image. For example, in the coding of your page the code for inserting the image into the page is <img src=”picture/beautiful_red_rose.jpg” alt=”" />. You would only need to change it to <img src=”picture/beautiful_red_rose.jpg” alt=”description” /> to add the description tag.

Meta Tags: Though most of the coding on the pages will need to be done by the SEO expert you hire, there is one Meta tag that you can add yourself, the Meta description tag. Adding this to the pages gives a head start on the SEO work. The person you hire will only need to adjust the description a little to make sure it includes your keywords, unless you already have ones that you are wanting to use. For each page of your website, you want to have a different description tag (Google doesn’t like duplicate descriptions on websites). If you have a list of keywords and phrases you want to use already, make sure to include at least one of those at the beginning of each description.

If you have a large site, this can be very time consuming (which is why this helps cut the cost down on SEO, especially if the person you hire charges by the hour), but at least they only need to be 160 characters or less since most search engines only read the first 160. You can go to http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_meta_name.asp to see how to do the Meta description tag.

Get your site indexed: If your site is already indexed, great! If not, this is actually easier then you would think. Though submitting your website to search engines helps, it could take weeks, or even months before your website gets indexed. The best, and fastest way to get indexed is by finding a website that gets browsed often by search engines and getting a link placed on that site. Blog sites are great for this as long as they don’t use the nofollow tags. A very good site for finding these blogs is http://www.followlist.com. Browse through the categories and find blog sites that are related to yours and start posting some comments. Make sure that you put your website address on the line for it on the comment form so Google can find your website the next time it re-indexes the page your commenting on. Before you know it, your site will start being indexed by Google and you possibly could even gain a PR point or two. Having your website indexed before hiring an SEO Expert helps since the person you hired won’t have to wait as long to see how your site is ranking from the work they are doing.

If you are serious about saving money, these four tasks can greatly help your budget. But they do take time; so don’t expect to be able to finish these quickly.

    U Comment I follow

Posted By Meridith Cantrell on May 19, 2009

If you have looked into link building, you have probably seen at least a little information on follow and nofollow links. These two tags tell google whether to follow the link or not. In some ways, it is a good thing to not let information from the link to be associated with your website, but for blogs, nofollow can be very bad.

Though it shouldn’t affect whether a person posts a comment or not, too often a person will check to see if the site uses nofollow before posting a comment. If the site does, the person will go elsewhere. This discourages discussions on blogs that could be beneficial to both the blog owner and the commenter.

You will find on JasisDesigns.Com that I do not use nofollow tags on comments. The only time you will ever see a nofollow is if there is a link that leads to another site that does use nofollow. Basically tit-for-tat. Hopefully with enough of us site owners using follow, and nofollow reciprocity, that the search engines will begin to ignore those tags and let all links be worthy of following.

What To Look For In A Professional Writer

Posted By Meridith Cantrell on May 19, 2009

If you do a search on Google, you will find thousands and thousands of results for professional ghostwriter services and article writing services. What are they really? In simple terms they are writers who will write content, reviews, press releases, articles and more for anyone who needs it. But beware, there are way too many people out there who claim to be professional writers yet have no educational experience to back up what they claim.

To be a professional article and ghostwriter, you have to have a very firm grasp of the language you are writing in. Meaning someone from India isn’t going to be able to write quality professional content in English and vice versa. Also passing English in high school with an A+ doesn’t qualify you for knowing how to write professionally. Professional writers will have had several writing courses through higher education centers such as Universities and Colleges. Before hiring an article or ghostwriter, don’t hesitate to find out what educational experience they have in writing.

There are many things to keep in mind while choosing someone to hire for your writing needs. The person should have the educational experience to be a professional. They also should be able to write over any topic and in any style that you want. Often you will find writers who say they specialize or only write for certain topics. In other words, they know that topic well and are not able to do research affectively to write for other topics. Also, run away fast from anyone who mentions using any software for writing articles. Articles written with software are very jumbled and make little or no sense.

If you want to hire a writer for SEO purposes, make sure the writer understands how to write with proper keyword density. You can find someone who is able to write wonderful over any topic, but when you ask for articles with certain keywords included with a set density, the articles come out sounding very forced instead of free flowing and natural.

When searching for an article or ghostwriter, do your homework. You might be tempted to go to one of the many websites that have thousands of freelance writers willing to take on your project for an unbelievably low price. This can be great if you happen to find one of the newer members of the website willing to take a lower price to get them started. But you will find more times then not that the people bidding on your project are unable to write or communicate in fluent English. So you might only be paying $1 per 500-word article, but you will end up having to spend a lot of time editing the articles to make them readable or for them to even make sense. True professional ghostwriters and article writers charge anywhere from $0.03 a word and up.

Take your time when searching for a writer. No matter what it is that you need written, it is important to you and should only be handled by a professional. Ask to see samples of the writer’s work and educational experience. Most professional writers online will have samples of their work that they can show you. And last but not least, trust your instincts when hiring a writer. If you have any doubts about a writer, move on to the next one.

    SEO Content for Google

Posted By Meridith Cantrell on May 16, 2009

SEO experts write article content to promote web sites. Using Googlized SEO content allows them to integrate keywords and terms as well as links into web pages to prepare them for indexing. SEO marketing tools are often used to perform these actions. Strategies are used as well.

SEO – Google strategies may entice the SEO expert to add H2 tags, header text, spiders, robots, page description, Meta tags, relevant key terms, words, links, and so forth. The goal is to optimize the web pages so that it passes Google’s SEO inspection. When the web sites have relevant keywords, terms, links, etc, it provides users easy access to the web pages.

Links are Google commodities and they link other Internet marketers to your web sites. SEO marketing is the largest business in the world, i.e. both online and offline. Even offline vendors must optimize their press releases, flyers, etc to attract visitors by influencing them to buy something of interest.

Internet SEO – Google marketing drives traffic to your web site, attracting surfers from all over the world. SEO – Google techniques can help increase sales and equip Internet marketers with ways to customize their web content and links. Once those links and content is published, it is ready for search engines to index. The goal of any Internet marketer is to increase sales by generating customers to a web site.

The world of the information superhighway vendors, regardless of what they promote, must always focus on relevant keywords, terms, and links. Without relevant keywords, terms, and links, Google may index you, but your site that sells Geese just might fall into the category of Toys for Tots. Imagine how many parents and kids will feel confused.

    Hiding SEO Keywords

Posted By Meridith Cantrell on May 15, 2009

Tricks of the trade, definitely not! Hiding SEO keywords is a trick that people for years have used to attract attention from Google and other major search engines. They will hide or shrink the keywords hoping that Google will not notice the stuffing and index their web pages.

Hiding and shrinking SEO keywords is not smart. Usually someone hiding keywords will also stuff keywords that have nothing to do with the main theme of their website into their web pages. Hiding is the process of stuffing the keywords into a large amount of web content and then hiding them so that the users cannot see the keywords. But they are not hidden from the crawlers on major search engines.

An example of hiding keywords may appear in html as bat, bat, bat. Notice the keywords are back to back. These words can be accessed by clicking on the content located at the top of the page. Then you must drag your mouse over to the lower section of the page to highlight the content in between. Source codes will also reveal hidden keywords.

Search engines will look for hidden keywords in web pages. Designers typically use smaller fonts as another tactic to hide the words. Search engines also pick up this spam tactic. The process of search engine optimizing is illegal. Thus, SEO experts know this and they should avoid any cramming or hiding of SEO keywords in any web page.

If the major search engines catches this action, your pages will not be indexed. In addition, you could lose your opportunity at a later time of getting the next optimized web page indexed. SEO keywords should be used correctly and hiding of the keywords should never be considered.

    Irrelevant SEO Keywords

Posted By Meridith Cantrell on May 13, 2009

A site has a main theme. This theme helps users find your site, especially if it has relevant keywords. Some people however use irrelevant keywords in the theme of web sites. They may be selling Monkeys, but telling you they are selling Hock Hams. This is a misleading tactic used in SEO keywords that is prohibited and unaccepted by users and major search engines.

Your SEO keywords should always be relevant to your site’s theme. People will use irrelevant keywords particularly the popular phrases and words believing that it will drive traffic to their web site. Yet, they fail to realize that if a user searches with those phrases and keywords and finds your web site selling something totally different than what they want, you lose business.

Focusing on relevant phrases and keywords is the right way to optimize your web sites and get instant results. It makes no sense to mislead others, especially since you know they will catch on. Using irrelevant keywords to confuse others is not only a crude tactic; it is an outright lie.

Sometimes however inexperienced people attempt to optimize their web sites and inadvertently they add irrelevant keywords. This is an honest mistake; however, it could cost you a fortune. Thus, it is best to hire someone will skills to use SEO keywords for optimizing your web pages. Google and the users who visit your web site will thank you.

If you sell Monkeys, then use relevant keywords such as Chimps, monkeys, animals, etc, don’t use popular keywords to attract visitors to your web sites. Again, let the experts help you if you are unsure how to optimize your web pages correctly. You will earn favor with the major search engines, and gain users by staying honest and using relevant SEO keywords.
